Designed for the North Carolina Museum of Art, Art Deco exhibit. Inspired by the classic 1938 Figoni Roadster, the elegant black satin of the garment resembles the sheen and shine of the automobile. In contrast, the original textile of pleated chiffon gives off the character seen in the front grill of the car. The hand stitched gold roping accessorizes the garment emulating the sleek lines of the Figoni. The elegance of the 30s and 40s era is brought into the modern world with the fitted silhouette, transparency of the chiffon, and alluring open back.
